COMMUNITY EVENTS AND JAMS

Did you know there's bluegrass and traditional music on at least four Hawaiian islands? The high lonesome sound is everywhere!  If you have a regularly-scheduled jam that is open to the public, let us know and we'll post it here.  Consider signing up for our email newsletter so you can be notified about events.

PICKIN' WITH THE CHICKENS (MAUI) - SECOND SATURDAY EACH MONTH

This Maui jam has been going strong since 2014!   2pm - Dusk at Rainbow Park.   Bring something to wet your whistle, a chair and something to keep the chill off later on in the afternoon.

OLD TIME JAM (OAHU) - SECOND AND FOURTH MONDAYS EACH MONTH

Paki Park, Leahi Avenue, Honolulu.  6:30pm.

Bring a chair and your favorite beverage.

MANOA JAM (OAHU) - THIRD SUNDAY EACH MONTH

Manoa Valley District Park, Kahaloa Drive, Honolulu, HI 96822
Third Sunday of each month 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

TIME/LOCATION: Manoa Valley District Park, Kahaloa Drive, Honolulu, HI 96822

BRING: Traditional instruments, chairs or blanket, cooler, snacks, and drinks.

DIRECTIONS: Exit the H1 Freeway at University Ave. Head north toward the mountains. Stay on University Avenue as it goes uphill and then downhill. Then turn right on E. Manoa Rd. Go through Manoa town and then turn left on Kahaloa Ave. We will be on the left side under the trees.

SURF & SEA JAM (NORTH SHORE OAHU) - THIRD TUESDAY EACH MONTH

Haleiwa Jam on the back lanai of Surf & Sea from 6pm - 10pm.  BYOB.

BIG ISLAND JAM - THIRD OR FOURTH SUNDAY EACH MONTH

Location varies; please sign up for our mailing list or join the Friends of Bluegrass Hawai‘i Facebook page.

BRING: Traditional bluegrass instrument(s) if you pick, something to sit on, lunch if you’re hungry.

Musicians of all skill levels are welcome; listeners, too!

Noon to 5pm.

HALF FAST JAM (OAHU) - FOURTH SUNDAY EACH MONTH

Locations vary for this jam, please check our Facebook or Instagram page to see who is hosting for the month.

Start time 2pm. 

This is the perfect beginner/intermediate bluegrass jam, although all levels are welcome to join.
