September 7, 1981: Bill Monroe got lei'd!
The Hawaiian Country Festival took place on September 7, 1981,
and featured several local acts--Melveen Leed, the Fifth String Band
(Sam's bluegrass act!),
the Country Living Band (a Waimanalo country act),
as well as the Father of Bluegrass and country legend Johnny Paycheck.

Engle, a nice guy and an occasional BH picker,
retired from the Navy on October 20, 2006! He
is now living in Seattle. Aloha `oe, Gary!
