Find A Bluegrass Jam! Planning to do a little traveling? This growing website can help you find recurring bluegrass & trad music events in many states and major cities on the Mainland!

Folkjam.org This great resource was built to help folks who travel for their jobs and pack their instruments! Several hundred jam sessions have been posted to the site and viewed by thousands of visitors.

International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Bluegrass music's own trade organization, located in Nashville and dedicated to "working together for the success of bluegrass music worldwide."

Hawai`i Bluegrass & Traditional Bands Here's the BH page of bluegrass & traditional music acts in Hawai`i, with links as available to each band's Website! If your band isn't listed here, please contact us with your info. We'll be happy to add you!

Patty Clayton Based in Colorado, Patty's a gifted singer-songwriter and the Western Music Association's Female Vocalist of the Year for 2005. Our Wandering Cowgirl visits Hawai`i whenever she can, so keep an eye (and ear!) out for some of of the loveliest vocals you'll hear this side of the Rio Grande.

Mark Cosgrove Winner of several major flatpicking championships, former guitarist with the Jerry Douglas Band, Mark will perform in Hawai`i in February 2007.

Dan Crary One of the best steel-string guitarists anywhere, Dan visited us in April 2004 and gave some great performances! He's a veteran of bands like the Bluegrass Alliance, California, and Berline/Crary/Hickman.

Ken Emerson Wonderful Grammy-winning Hawaiian-style slide guitarist from Kauai; performed with Pete & Joan Wernick on the Bluegrass Beat Meets Hawaiian Heat tour.

Fiddlers Four This occasional ensemble, featuring fiddlers Darol Anger, Bruce Molsky, Michael Doucet, and young cello wiz Rushad Eggleston, toured Hawai`i in 2004. Hot, hot, hot!

Hot Buttered Rum The original high-altitude bluegrass-Americana-jamband experience! This band descends on O`ahu in December 2006.

Rob Ickes One of the most in-demand resophonic guitarists in Nashville, this Grammy winner and Blue Highway member toured Hawai`i in May 2004.

George Kahumoku, Jr. Slack-key guitar legend from Maui who played with Dan Crary on the Bluegrass Beat Meets Hawaiian Heat tour.

Laurie Lewis Laurie and her musical co-conspirator Tom Rozum perform annually in Hawai`i, usually in January or February. Awesome singing, songwriting, and picking!

Loren Tilly Music is the home of our pal Loren Tilly, whom you may have seen at our jams and Open Mics. Loren relocated to O`ahu from Wisconsin in April 2005, and we are so lucky to have him! He now has his own website, complete with music samples, photos, and more. He's into old jazz and Western swing, and he plays one very sweeeeeet guitar. Welcome, Loren!

Makana Makana is a young ki ho`alu (slack key) guitarist/vocalist/songwriter making some of the loveliest music being made in Hawai`i today, or anywhere.

Jake Shimabukuro has been called the Jimi Hendrix of the `ukelele. His 2001 Hawai`i tour with the Flecktones resulted in his guest appearance on Bela Fleck's Little Worlds CD. Click here to see an astonishing video of one of his performances.

Tim Stafford This Grammy-winning guitarist and songwriter performed here in May 2004 with his Blue Highway compadre Rob Ickes. What an amazing show!

Pete & Joan Wernick The Wernicks performed as part of the Bluegrass Beat Meets Hawaiian Heat concert series, and they were fantastic! Pete's a veteran of the legendary bluegrass band Hot Rize.

Larry Stephenson Band: Larry's a killer mandolinist and superb vocalist who surrounds himself with the best musicians in the business.

3 Fox Drive: Tight sibling harmonies, spectacular songwriting and expert instrumental chops define the sound of this band, comprised of siblings Barb, Kim and Joel Fox.

Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road: Award-winning North Carolina ensemble is led by one of bluegrass music's most respected musicians, singer/songwriter Lorraine Jordan.

Bull Harman & Bull's Eye: Flat-picking guitar wizard (once a member of Rhonda Vincent's band) and his fine team of pickers from the state of Missouri. Bull is also a key player in St. Louis Flatpick, an annual weekend workshop. Visit www.stlflatpick.com.

Frank Poindexter: Resonator guitarist Frank Poindexter is a respected bluegrass player and songwriter who has recorded with his nephews, Ron, Wyatt, Larry and Tony: the Rice Brothers.

Casey Driessen: Young fiddle wizard, graduate of Berklee School of Music; former sideman with Béla Fleck, The Sparrow Quartet, Tim O'Brien, Darrell Scott, Steve Earle, and Frank Vignola; and solo artist with the drum/bass/fiddle power trio called The Colorfools.

American Bluegrass Masters: The American Bluegrass Masters Tour, with bluegrass legends J.D. Crowe, Bobby Osborne and Curtis Burch, has traveled all over the country (including a visit to the Islands in November 2009) planting high-quality bluegrass wherever it goes!

Jeanette Williams Band: Fronted by one of bluegrass music's hottest female vocalists! Jeanette also appeared on the latest Daughters of Bluegrass project, 2009 IBMA Recorded Event of the Year!

Casey Henry: Banjo player (credits include work with June Carter Cash, the Jim Hurst Band, and Pat Flynn); currently with the Dixie Beeliners), bluegrass journalist and teacher of the Murphy Method (www.murphymethod.com)!

Richard Greene: A fiddle legend who worked with both Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys and pioneering progressive band Muleskinner (with Bill Keith, Clarence White, Peter Rowan, and David Grisman). Monroe once said of him: "There's not a man in the country that can do what Richard can do."

Kevin Willette: Multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, marathon runner, nice guy... Kevin Willette of Austin, TX does it all! He's just released his THIRD CD of original songs on which he plays EVERY INSTRUMENT and sings EVERY PART! How does he do it???

Down The Road Band: Down the Road is a trio of bluegrass and American roots music musicians from the western Cascade foothill towns of North Bend and Snoqualmie, east of Seattle, Washington.

Barb Diederich's Bluegrass Lyrics This may very well be the Web's coolest bluegrass lyrics site, with a great index and links to lyrics for a zillion tunes--usually with a couple links per song, so you can pick and arrange the version you like best.

Bell Mountain Music Thanks to our friend Gary Mynatt for sharing this link, which he says offers terrific songbooks and courses--"Really good prices, and the stuff came fast."

BluegrassCollege.org A great on-line instructional site for learning bluegrass, this features an all-star lineup of instructors--Tim Stafford, Rob Ickes, Chris Jones, John Moore, Matt Flinner, Ron Stewart, Mike Compton, Butch Baldassari--with video, audio mixes and tab.

Bluegrass Gospel Songbook Compiled by Wayne Erbsen, this amazing 9"x12" 172-page collection of over 100 traditional bluegrass gospel songs features musical notation, lyrics, guitar chords, vintage photos, song history, and MORE!

B.O.M. (Bluegrass & Old-time Music) Services of Japan If you're Japanese, you might already know about B.O.M., the bluegrass and related music distributor and mail-order shop founded in 1972 by Saburo Inoue Watanabe, one of Japan's best-known bluegrass personalities. He's publisher & editor of Moonshiner, Japan's premiere bluegrass magazine; co-founder and mandolinist for Bluegrass 45, the legendary band; and creator of Red Clay Records.

Bluegrass Country Bluegrass in streaming audio, available NOW on your computer, with some of the best DJs in the business! Look for shows by WAMU hosts like Gary Henderson and Lisa Kay Howard, legends like Eddie Stubbs, Fred Bartenstein for the International Bluegrass Music Museum, Peter Thompson with his eclectic and delightful playlists, and--last but not least--our friend Mike Kear and his Australian show, Music From Foggy Hollow!

Irish Pubs In Hawai`i This link will take you to the Web location of two of O`ahu's favorite pubs: O'Toole's and Kelley O'Neil's, operated by partners and fellow Irishmen Bill Comerford and Fred Remington. The Homegrown Garden Island Bluegrass Show Yes, the island of Kaua`i actually has a bluegrass radio show! Its home is KKCR, Kauai Community Radio--the only community based non-commercial radio station in the Hawaiian Islands. The bluegrass show is hosted by a feller with the improbable handle of Ya! It's on the dial on O`ahu at 104.7, on Kauai at 92.7, 91.9, and 90.9--or on live streaming audio at the KKCR site. Look for bluegrass every Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 PM!

KTUH: Travellers' Dream with DJ Zoe Every Tuesday morning from 6:00-9:00, wake up with DJ Zoe as she spins some great discs! Tune your radio dial to 90.3 FM in Honolulu, 91.3 FM on the North Shore, Digital Cable channel 843, and streaming live on the Internet at www.ktuh.org. Travellers' Dream is an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary music from all over the globe, with emphasis on the Celtic countries (at 8 AM HST). Zoe says: "I have so many favorites it is hard to include all the countries' musics in only three hours a week. A few of the artists I like to play are: Lunasa, AnRil, Deaf Shepherd, Swap, Varttina, Hedningarna, Vasen, Marta Sebestyen, Nickel Creek, Najma, and a zillion others."
